the JATC.
An
active member of the plumbing and mechanical industry for over
58 years, he served his apprenticeship at Hutzel Plumbing through
UA Local 190. He began his own company which he operated for

Learns About
Safe 2 Work Program
Susan
DeLong, Coastal Training Technologies Corporation, (pictured
left) made a presentation to the Greater Michigan PMC
to review the Safe2Work Program, that Owners/Users are beginning
to require on local worksites.
Safe2Work
features a robust, interactive training system that teaches
employees standard operating procedures and safe work practices
in a consistent, thorough format no matter when, where, or by
whom the training is administered. Safe worker readiness is
the goal.
Recently
the program has been endorsed by Detroit Edison, Ford Motor
Company, General Motors and Chrysler Corporation, to name a
few. The program has been endorsed by the Greater Michigan PMC,
UA Local 190, and was recently endorsed by the Labor- Management
Construction Unity Board for the greater Washtenaw County area.
The training will soon become part of the Greater Michigan UA
190 Joint Training Program for apprentices and journeypersons
alike.
Career
Development Continues to Be a Major Activity
One
of the strong commitments of the Greater Michigan PMC is working
to interest the youth of our area to consider the plumbing and
mechanical industry as a possible vocation. We participated
in the recent Governor's Conference for Counselors and School
Personnel. Over 1,200 school officials were in attendance. Along
with the booth, PMC President Sandra Miller was one of the workshop
featured speakers, discussing for the full room of participants,
the projects of the PMC.

Yacht
Cruise and Dinner
The
Greater Michigan PMC scheduled our annual Association's Michigan
Get-Together during the MCAA Convention with a Yacht Cruise
and dinner. It was a good time for all of us to visit, but the
PMC felt that it would also be a good time to contribute to
support the efforts of our Service Men and Women serving here
and abroad in Enduring Freedom. This year, the PMC incurred
the majority of the cost for the event and asked for donations
for the USO.
